Greetings Sammers!

Have you been highly involved with Flying Sams and would like to take a more leadership role in the club? If so, we highly recommend you apply for the Flying Sams 2010-2011 Executive Board! Applications are now available! The application deadline is Saturday, February 20th, 2010 by 11:59 PM – NO EXCEPTIONS. Interviews will be taking place during Week 8, February 22 – 28, 2010. Please e-mail completed applications to President@flyingsams.com and please CAREFULLY read all the requirements and guidelines for the application. If you have ANY questions regarding the application, please send an email to Ben at president@flyingsams.com . If you have any questions regarding a specific officer position, please email any of the current officers.

Upcoming Clinic Trips Dates

Good news everybody: our clinic will be reopened soon! Some board members will be stopping by our clinic on June 20th to notify the locals about our next scheduled club trip on July 18th. Even though we’re on summer break, we’ll still be making regular trips down every month. Everyone is welcome to apply for the July trip once the application window opens. As for the rest of the summer and for Fall quarter, here are the upcoming trip dates (which is also posted on the events page):

Yard Sale! 5/30/09

The year is almost coming to an end, can you believe it? So as we said at the last
meeting, our spring quarter yard sale is coming up this Saturday, May 30th. We're
looking for willing members to come out and help sell, or donate! "One man's trash
is another man's treasure."  The sale will be from 7:00am - noon at the home of our
gracious publicity chair, MJ Vennat.  Please let us know if you are able to donate
or help out, we greatly appreciate it.  We can also arrange to pick up donations
from you.

T-Shirt Designs

We are still in need of a new t-shirt design. If you’re interested in having your design immortalized in the annals of Flying Sams history, please submit your designs! Don’t worry if you don’t have all the necessary skills to make an awesome design, other members are more than willing to help out. If you’re only good at drawing, just upload a scan of your hand-drawn picture and another member will photoshop it to perfection for you. If you can’t draw but are willing to help photoshop pictures, leave us your contact information and we’ll make good use of your skills. Feel free to comment or ask questions below. Thanks!

OC AIDS Walk

The OC AIDS walk is coming up and part of our grant is to help out with the event.
We won’t be walking, we’ll just be helping out with set up. We have confirmed the
10am to 2pm spot on Friday May 15th, 2009*. It’s at Angel Stadium in Anaheim and we
can provide the rides there.

Flying Sams 8th Annual Benefit Banquet May 8th!

The goal of our annual banquet/social is to raise money for the clinic and to thank all of our volunteers for their hard work this year.

This year’s program will include:

Cash bar
Dinner (2 courses: see below)
End-of-year video

Performances from UCI a capella groups Circle of Fifths
and much more!

$40.00 for students
$75.00 for general admission

Relay for Life

Relay for Life

This year’s Relay for Life hosted by the American Cancer Society is May 2nd and 3rd in Aldrich Park. We need a team together to walk all night to support their cause. Please join our Facebook group and see the instructions there to complete the registration form.

Meeting tomorrow (Wed) at 4:00pm in front of Quiznos at the Student Center. We have lots
of important things to discuss and we need to organize what we will bring for the
event. Also, I will pass out bands for people who signed up last week. For those who
signed up this week, you can pick up your bands at the event but also need to sign a
waiver form . I can also collect any donations that you have and turn it in on the
weekly Relay for Life Meeting on Thursday.

Most importantly we will work on posters and information on our cancer-awareness
topic, Colon Cancer.

Also, if you would like to submit pictures for the Luminaria ceremony of loved ones,
friends and family that you would like to see honored please send them to
acresap@uci.edu.
